GRAND RAPIDS TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A holiday event has been lighting up the skies of West Michigan.

A new winter light extravaganza called ENLIGHTEN kicks off at Frederik Meijer Gardens later this week. It features a one-mile route around the gardens, lit up with thousands of lights.

The event has 14 different stops along the trail, each offering a unique experience like a beer garden, a waterfall show or an interactive display.

Senior vice president of Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park Steve Laware said it’s a great experience for everyone of all ages.

“Everyone that has seen it so far has been gobsmacked. I have been through a number of times and I just can’t stop smiling, turn every corner, and what’s familiar is now unfamiliar. Seeing things that I’ve never seen before,” said Laware.
