GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Grand Rapids hasn’t seen a high temperature in the 40s since April 20, but the 206-day streak will likely come to an end Tuesday afternoon despite sunny skies in the forecast.

This is just the second time in the month of November that the temperature will register below average. The typical high on Nov. 12 in Grand Rapids is 49 degrees.

This is also the deepest into autumn that we’ve made it for a first high temperature under 50 degrees for Grand Rapids, breaking the record that has stood for nearly 20 years. The previous latest occurrence of a first high under 50 degrees happened back on Nov. 10, 2005, when the temperature also topped out at 47 degrees.

Grand Rapids isn’t alone in enjoying a mild start to November. Kalamazoo and Battle Creek in particular are far above normal on observed average temperature month-to-date.

Temperatures are expected to climb back into the 50s on Wednesday afternoon, and the extended outlook keeps the relatively warm air sticking around West Michigan.
