GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — While school closings are not expected for Wednesday, there is an increasing chance for closings Thursday.

Heavy snow has come to an end in Southwest Michigan, which was hit hard Monday and Tuesday. While some slick back roads are still likely, school closings are unlikely for Wednesday.

A winter storm watch has been posted for much of West Michigan from Wednesday evening through early Friday morning. Heavy lake-effect snow in spots, along with very strong winds, will likely lead to school closings Thursday.

A prediction for Thursday will be posted by early Wednesday evening and will be available at the School Closing Predictions page on WOODTV.com.

When schools make the decision to close, you can find it on our closings and delays page.
