GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Heavy lake-effect snow fell on parts of the lakeshore Monday, with even more expected Tuesday morning.

A winter storm warning continues for Van Buren, Cass, Berrien, Ottawa and Allegan counties until 10 a.m. Tuesday. It’s within this area that some communities could see very heavy snowfall with grand totals at 6 to 10 inches.

Elsewhere, winter weather advisories are in effect for Muskegon and Oceana counties until 7 a.m. Tuesday.

Most of West Michigan managed to stay dry for Tuesday morning. Areas along I-94 in Van Buren county saw heavy, lake-effect snow at times. This triggered several school closings including South Haven Public Schools, Lawrence Public Schools, Hartford Public Schools, and Covert Publics Schools. That band will likely produce totals between 1 and 3 inches.

This is in addition to heavy snow that fell throughout the day Monday! Some areas towards the lakeshore reported upwards of a foot of snow.

Our next round of snow, expected Wednesday night through Thursday, could be impactful in lake effect favored areas. Stay with Storm Team 8 for the latest forecast.
