GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — The weather will be quiet for Michiganders today, but for anyone heading south into Indiana, Illinois, or Ohio today be prepared to drive through steady rain, occasionally mixing with snow.

TODAY Mostly to partly cloudy today with highs near 40°. Feeling warmer today with light wind. A quick patch of rain or snow is possible, but it will have little to no impact.

TONIGHT Quiet and cold with lows in the upper 20s. A patch of snow is possible, but no accumulation is expected.

THANKSGIVING Trending dry for most of the day. A quick patch of rain or snow is possible but not likely. Afternoon highs in the 30s with a glimpse of sunshine possible. A few light snow showers are possible from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. with snow becoming steadier as the night continues. A few strong lake-effect snow bands are possible closer to midnight with roads becoming slick. Stay with Storm Team 8 for the latest.

BLACK FRIDAY The heaviest lake-effect snow will take place Friday where areas west of US-131 could rack up 4 to 6 inches of snow. Winds will continue to come off the lake at 10-20 mph with highs only reaching near 30.

WEEKEND Lake-effect snow chances continue for Saturday and Sunday. There will be some dry hours in the mix and overall snow totals are expected to be lower than Friday. Temperatures remain frigid with highs struggling to reach 30.

LOOKING AHEAD Staying cool and staying snowy into early next week. Lake-effect snow chances linger through Wednesday.
