GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — The Storm Team 8 Weather Experience is bringing forecasting into West Michigan classrooms.

Using a fun virtual program, Storm Team 8 Chief Meteorologist Ellen Bacca teaches local third graders all about our weather, including snow, wind, tornadoes and lightning.

The program features weather cartoon characters like Tom the Tornado and Siad the snow cloud who join Storm Team 8 in the “weather lab.” Each classroom receives experiment kits so kids can make snow and clouds in a jar with their teacher. Ellen gets kids up and moving with the “tornado dance” and much more.

Storm Team 8 has welcomed these schools so far this school year:

West Michigan third grade teachers can email WOOD TV8 to learn more about (video-only) options.
