GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — The Detroit Tigers are pushing toward the playoffs, and they’re calling up a new arm to get them there.
The Tigers are calling up Jackson Jobe for his MLB debut. Jobe is their top pitching prospect and No. 2 overall. Shelby Miller is designated for assignment in order to make room for Jobe on the roster.
Most recently with the Toledo Mud Hens, Jobe played three games with the West Michigan Whitecaps over the summer while rehabbing from a hamstring strain. He pitched nine innings through three games, but made an impact with eight strikeouts.
The Tigers have two series left in the regular season, both at home. They start a slate with the Tampa Bay Rays on Tuesday and close the season against the Chicago White Sox.
