GENEVA TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Crews from six fire departments trudged through deep snow to put out a fire at an apartment near South Haven Monday evening.

The fire broke out just after 6 p.m. in an unoccupied apartment at Pitcher Lake Properties on 62nd Street near 8th Avenue in Geneva Township, according to South Haven Area Emergency Services. The flames then spread to the attic.

Firefighters from Bangor, Columbia, Covert, Hartford and Watervliet helped the South Haven crews, working amid deep snow. Water was shuttled in from the nearby Gingerman Raceway pond, SHAES said.
