GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — This week on “To The Point,” we look at the 3rd Congressional district race where incumbent U.S. Rep. Hillary Scholten, D-Grand Rapids, is running for the seat for a second time. Republican Paul Hudson gained the right to challenge her by winning the primary in August.
They sat down with News 8 to discuss multiple subjects including the economy.
“I tell the Democrats all the time you can point to all the markers about inflation being lower than it has in the last several years, interest rates being down but if you’re a family of four and you’re trying to make it in West Michigan, you’re feeling the pinch and those are the markers that I care about when it comes to the economy,” Scholten said.
Hudson says he knows why the economy is still a concern.
“This was a problem that was directly caused by bad policy from Washington. Specifically, it was dumping trillions of dollars of government money into the economy and when that happens, inflation is the result. So, what we need to do is we need to scale back on the spending,” he said.
All that and more on this “To The Point” episode for the weekend of Oct. 26.
