CONSTANTINE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A pedestrian hit by a car and seriously injured northeast of Constantine last week.
The crash happened around 10:20 p.m. Thursday on Constantine Road north of Featherstone Road in Constantine Township.
The St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Office said that a northbound car was stopped in the southbound lane speaking with the pedestrian. A southbound driver told investigators he couldn’t initially tell which lane the stopped car was in but as he approached, realized it was his land. Deputies said he swerved to the right, hitting the pedestrian.
The pedestrian was airlifted to the hospital with injuries that deputies said were considered life-threatening.
In a Monday release, deputies said the crash remained under investigation.
