HOLLAND TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Deputies are looking for a suspect after a woman jumped out of an apartment window near Holland following a domestic assault.

Around 4 p.m. Monday, a 23-year-old woman was seen jumping out of an apartment window at Windmill Lakes Apartments on Millpond Drive near Mill Run Court in Holland township. A witness reported it to the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies arrived to find the woman had been assaulted inside the apartment by a 31-year-old man that she knew. He was reported to have had a gun during the assault but no shots were fired, the sheriff’s office said. The woman was injured and taken to the hospital.

The apartment was cleared by the sheriff’s office critical response team, but they did not find the suspect. Detectives are still investigating.

After the assault, the roads leading into the apartment complex were partially blocked for several hours as the area was cleared. The suspect was not on scene, deputies said.
