GRAND HAVEN TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Deputies say a rider was thrown from his motorcycle after hitting a deer Saturday in Grand Haven Township.

It happened around 2:35 p.m. on Lakeshore Avenue near Timber Dunes Drive, according to the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators say a 24-year-old Bay City man was heading north on Lakeshore on a 2006 Yamaha when a deer darted into the road.

The rider couldn’t stop in time, according to deputies. They say he hit the deer and was thrown from his motorcycle.

The man was taken to the hospital with injuries that are not considered life-threatening, according to the sheriff’s office.
