BEAVER TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A man died after a house fire in Newaygo County early Sunday, deputies said.

Around 4:25 a.m., the Newaygo County Sheriff’s Office was called to a home on W 7 Mile Road in Beaver Township that was on fire. Arriving deputies and firefighters pulled a 69-year-old man out of the house and tried to save his life, but the man died at the scene, according to the sheriff’s office.

A 69-year-old woman made it out of the house uninjured, deputies said.

It’s not clear what caused the fire, but the sheriff’s office is investigating along with several other law enforcement agencies.
