CEDAR CREEK TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A man died while working on water pipes outside his home near Muskegon Wednesday evening, deputies said.

Around 4:12 p.m., the man’s wife called 911 after her husband was found unresponsive outside while he was fixing a waterline, according to the Muskegon County Sheriff’s Office. First responders arrived to the home on Holton Duck Lake Road near Ruprecht Road in Cedar Creek Township to find the man dead.

He was identified 73-year-old Ronald Edward Aerts, according to deputies. It’s not clear how Aerts died, but the Muskegon County Sheriff’s Office is investigating.

The Holton Township Fire Department and Trinity Health EMS assisted.
