MUSKEGON, Mich. (WOOD) — Two people have been charged with murder in the death of a Muskegon man last month.
Robert Pompey Jr., 44, of Lakewood Club, and Benjamin Fields, 36, of Muskegon Heights, have been charged with open murder in the death of Andres Garcia. Pompey was arraigned Nov. 7 and Fields on Wednesday.
Garcia, 30, was shot in his home on Sophia Street near E Apple Avenue in the early hours of Oct. 28. Emergency responders tried to save him, but he died on the way to the hospital.
A Wednesday release from Muskegon police did not include any information about what led up to the shooting or a possible motive.
Fields’ bond was set at $700,000. He’s expected back in court Dec. 3. Bond was denied for Pompey. He was in court Tuesday for a hearing. Both have long criminal histories that include assault and domestic violence, court records show.
Police thanked everyone who assisted in the case and asked anyone with additional information to call them at 231.724.6750 or Silent Observer at 231.722.7463.
