FAIRPLAIN TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Authorities say a teenager was killed and three other people were injured in a head-on crash in Montcalm County.

The Montcalm County Sheriff’s Office said the crash happened around 10 p.m. Thursday near the intersection of S. Sheridan Road and Boyer Road in Fairplain Township, south of Sheridan.

Investigators said a northbound Audi, driven by a 25-year-old West Bloomfield man, on Sheridan Road tried to pass another northbound vehicle when it collided head-on with a southbound vehicle, driven by a 21-year-old Ionia man.

A passenger in the Audi, a 19-year-old Greenville woman, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a news release. The sheriff’s office said she was not wearing a seatbelt. Her name was not released.

Both drivers and a passenger in the southbound vehicle, a 15-year-old Alma boy, were taken to the hospital with injuries that are not considered life-threatening, the release said.

The crash remains under investigation.
