COLOMA, Mich. (WOOD) — One person was killed after the vehicle they were in was hit by a train in Coloma on Saturday, police say.

Just after 7 p.m., officers with the Coloma Township Police Department were sent to the railroad crossing on Clements Court just north of E. Logan Street after receiving reports about a vehicle that was hit by a train.

Responding officers learned that four people, one adult and three children, were in the vehicle. The adult was killed, the police department said.

The children were taken to the hospital for treatment. The extent of their injuries has not been released.

The crash remains under investigation.
