GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — In honor of National Family Meals Month, TalkSooner has teamed up with several local pizzerias across the state to encourage parents and caregivers to talk with their children about drugs.
Throughout September, TalkSooner, a substance abuse prevention resource, is highlighting a promotion called “Any Way You Slice It, Prevention Matters.”
Research shows that “eating together regularly can reduce the chance of a child or teen engaging in risky behaviors such as using tobacco, alcohol and marijuana.”
That’s why TalkSooner has partnered with pizzerias across a 6-county area to inspire customers to come together for family meals and conversation. Restaurants include Cadena Brothers, Don Petrino’s, Chuck Wagon, Russo’s, Golden Sands Golf Course & Bucket Bar, and C D’s Quik Mart.
Staff at the pizzerias will give out a total of more than 2,500 promotional fliers with pizza orders this month, as well as approximately 3,000 complimentary TalkSooner pizza cutters.
For more information about how to talk with youth/teens about substance use, you can visit TalkSooner.org or watch this video.
