Deputies: 120 pounds of cocaine found in semi-truck

BENTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A tip led deputies to bust a semi-truck carrying more than 120 pounds of cocaine along I-94, the Berrien County Sheriff’s Office says.

The sheriff’s office said they got word about the drugs Monday and stopped the semi-truck on eastbound I-94 near mile marker 35, northeast of Benton Harbor, shortly before 8 p.m.

A search of the truck and trailer yielded about 50 kilograms — or about 123 pounds — of cocaine, deputies said. Authorities say the drugs have a street value of about $1.5 million.

Photos released by the sheriff’s department show about 50 packages, most wrapped in brown paper and tape and labeled “Fronzen.”

Suspect Sukhraj Singh, 22, of Canada, was arrested in the case, deputies said.
