2 from Grand Rapids area arrested in sex trafficking sting

MECOSTA TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Mecosta County authorities say they arrested two metro Grand Rapids men in a sex trafficking sting.

The Mecosta County Sheriff’s Office said the bust happened Friday in the Rogers Heights community of Mecosta Township, near Rogers Dam Pond. Authorities stressed no actual children were involved in the sting and that “all decoys used in the operation were adults.”

Two people were arrested: Erik Lundquist, 53, of Comstock Park, and a 48-year-old Grand Rapids man whose name was not released Monday pending arraignment.

Authorities say Lundquist was charged with solicitation and accosting a minor younger than 16, as well as drunken driving. He posted bond and was released from jail, authorities said.

The Grand Rapids man faces charges of solicitation/prostitution of an adult.

The Mecosta County Sheriff’s Office said the operation was conducted by a multijurisdictional task force that also includes the Montcalm, Newaygo and Oceana county sheriff’s offices and police from Big Rapids and Mt. Pleasant, plus Ferris State campus police.
