WYOMING, Mich. (WOOD) — A man wearing a clown mask is accused of robbing a Wyoming bank, indicating he had a gun and would not hesitate to use it, court records show.

It was the note he handed to the teller, police say, that helped bring about his arrest.

The Nov. 8 robbery happened at the PNC Bank branch on 28th Street SW at Buchanan Avenue.

Police say 62-year-old Garabed Tadian entered the branch wearing a clown mask “and passed a note stating that he had a gun and would kill them if he was not given money,” court records show.

He fled with less than $1,000 in cash, according to court records.

The suspect “was identified from a return of a palm print on the note he had passed,” a Wyoming officer wrote in a probable cause affidavit.

“Using surveillance footage from numerous locations, Garabed was seen with numerous articles of evidence in relation to the robbery,’’ the officer wrote.

The defendant was arraigned in Wyoming District Court last week on separate counts of bank robbery and armed robbery. Both charges are punishable by up to life in prison.

Tadian has a probable cause conference set for Wednesday in Wyoming District Court. He remains in the Kent County jail on a $100,000 bond.

The Nov. 8 heist at the PNC branch is the third bank robbery in Wyoming this year. Police have made arrests in all three cases.
