CEDAR SPRINGS, Mich. (WOOD) — A Cedar Springs Public Schools employee has been arrested for allegedly soliciting inappropriate images of students.

The 20-year-old Rockford man was arrested Monday afternoon on charges of child sexually abusive activity and using a computer to commit a crime, the Kent County Sheriff’s Office said. His name was not immediately released pending arraignment.

The sheriff’s office said the Cedar Springs school resource officer learned that a school auditorium technician may have illicit images of students. Investigators say he had fake social media accounts and that he was reaching out to female students, saying he would pay for illicit images.

The sheriff’s office said it worked with the district during its investigation.

Earlier this year, a separate Cedar Springs school employee was arrested on child porn charges. Local students do not appear to have been involved in that case. The worker, Mark Labelle, did not work with students.
