ORANGE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A plane made an emergency landing near the Ionia County Airport early Saturday morning.

Around 1:50 a.m., crews from multiple agencies responded to the Ionia County Airport after receiving a report about an aviation emergency.

According to the Ionia County Sheriff’s Office, a small Cessna aircraft from Cleveland, Ohio, en route to Greenville had low fuel and couldn’t find the airport.

Responding crews arrived at the airport but were unable to find the airplane. They asked for the tail number, plugged it into a flight tracking app and found that the plane’s last known location was near E David Highway and Acre Town Road, the sheriff’s office said.

The crews went to that location and discovered the plane had landed in a field. The sheriff’s office said that both the pilot and the plane were unharmed.

The sheriff’s office said that it is in contact with the FAA about the emergency landing.
