GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — You may notice a sudden lack of crows in downtown Grand Rapids, and for good reason. The city has been taken over by scarecrows this month.
The Downtown Grand Rapids Scarecrow Contest kicked off Oct. 12. Twenty-five businesses in the area are participating by setting up displays for people to check out and vote for their favorites. The contest goes until Oct. 26.
“We’re thrilled to see so many businesses participating this year, bringing a festive and creative spirit to downtown Grand Rapids,” Kayla Benda, the organizer of the event through the Hotel District Business Association, said in a statement. “This is a great way to celebrate the season, support local businesses, and get the community involved.”
The winners of the contest will be announced on Oct. 27 and prizes will be awarded to the top scarecrows. You can vote for your favorite and find a map of all participating displays by clicking here.
