GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Preparations are still underway and there’s a winter storm warning for much of West Michigan, but skating at Rosa Parks Circle is still a go for Thursday.
That’s the plan anyway, according to the city of Grand Rapids. As it stands now, the opening date of Dec. 5 is still on the board — but the city reemphasized that opening will be dependent on the weather.
If the weather permits it, the rink will open starting at 1 p.m. Thursday. Skating will be open through Feb. 22 this time around. Hours and changes related to the weather will be posted on the rink’s Facebook page.
For the first time in three years, prices have been increased to help cover facility operation costs, a spokesperson for the city of Grand Rapids told News 8. The 2024-2025 season prices are $6 for adults aged 18 and up and $3 for children aged 17 and younger. Admission prices include skate rentals.
Reservations can be made now by clicking here. The rink is also offering a 10-hole punch card for those who plan to skate multiple times for $16.
The city had to delay the rink’s opening last year due to uncooperative weather.
