GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — The Rosa Parks Circle Ice Rink is tentatively planned to open for the season the first week of December.

According to the city of Grand Rapids, the plan is to open the rink located at 135 Monroe Center St. NW for the season on Dec. 5, weather permitting. It will remain open daily until Feb. 22.

Last season, the opening was delayed due to warmer weather. Hours and changes due to weather will be posted on the rink’s Facebook page.

“We are thrilled to welcome skaters back to (the) downtown rink this season as it provides a fantastic opportunity for families and friends to come together, stay active, and create lasting memories during the winter months,” David Marquardt, parks and recreation director, said in a release.

For the first time in three years, prices have been increased to help cover facility operation costs, a spokesperson for the city of Grand Rapids told News 8. The 2024-2025 season prices are $6 for adults aged 18 and up and $3 for children aged 17 and younger. Admission prices include skate rentals.

For those planning on visiting multiple times, a 10-hole punch card is available for $16 at the rink after Dec. 5. Adult admission requires two punches and children require one punch.

For those who want to plan their winter skating times and have priority for skating times, reservations can be made starting Dec. 2 here. The city said that 50 reserved spots will be available for each skating session with a limit of six skaters per reservation.

Correction: A previous version of the article incorrectly listed the date that reservations can be made. We regret this error which has been corrected.
