GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A man with a lengthy criminal record has pleaded guilty to robbing a Grand Rapids credit union back in August.

The mid-afternoon hold-up occurred Aug. 16 at Lake Michigan Credit Union on Leonard Street NE at Plymouth Avenue NE.

Police say Jeffrey Ahlan Dale implied he had a weapon. He was arrested later that day.

Dale appeared in a Kent County courtroom on Monday — his 63rd birthday, where he pleaded guilty to one count of bank robbery. In exchange for his plea, additional charges were dismissed.

The Kent County Prosecutor’s Office has also agreed to dismiss a separate felony case for possession of methamphetamine.

At the time of the robbery, Dale was on parole for a 1994 robbery which sent him to prison for three decades. He got out of prison in January of 2023.

Dale remains in the Kent County jail. He will return to court for sentencing in January.
