GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A popular downtown Grand Rapids restaurant is for sale.
The owner of Flanagan’s Irish Pub, located at 139 Pearl St. near Monroe Avenue, is looking for a buyer, according to a listing from Equity Group of Michigan. The pub first opened in downtown Grand Rapids in 1981.
According to Crain’s Grand Rapids Business, which first reported on the listing, owner Benjamin Penrod made the decision to list the restaurant for sale in order to retire. It reports that Penrod, who owns the restaurant along with his wife and the pub’s manager, bought Flanagan’s in 2019.
Penrod plans on helping the new owner in the transition after the restaurant is sold, according to the listing.
Whoever buys the restaurant will need to keep on Flanagan’s around 20 employees as a condition of the sale, Crain’s reports.
“Most of my employees here have been with me for at least four years,” Penrod told Crain’s. “We’ve got a good, strong crew, loyal people.”
The listing did not give a price for the pub.
