Again, Trump will make Grand Rapids last campaign stop

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — As he did the previous two times, former President Donald Trump will visit metro Grand Rapids on the eve of Election Day.

Trump will host a rally at Van Andel Arena downtown Monday night. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and he is scheduled to speak around 10:30 p.m. People who wish to go can register online.

In 2016, Trump wrapped up his presidential campaign with a visit to DeVos Place, arriving at 12:30 a.m. on Election Day to a waiting crowd of thousands. In 2020, his last campaign stop was at Gerald R. Ford International Airport, where he spoke starting around midnight to a large crowd of supporters waiting outside.

Trump won Michigan in 2016. President Joe Biden won it in 2020.

With voting already underway in key battleground state Michigan, this presidential race remains tight. An EPIC-MRA poll released Friday shows that 48% of Michigan respondents said they intended to vote for Vice President Kamala Harris in the election and 45% for Trump. Because the margin of error is plus or minus 4%, that’s a statistical tie.

Harris is scheduled to host a rally at Michigan State University in East Lansing on Sunday evening.

State data shows that as of Friday morning, nearly 737,000 people had voted early in person statewide and more than 1.8 million absentee ballots had been returned.
