COLDWATER TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A 24-year-old woman was arrested on Friday after she allegedly tried to sneak contraband into the Lakeland Correctional Facility near Coldwater in May 2023.

The Michigan State Police said the contraband was intercepted before it reached the prisoners.

The woman was arrested on felony charges, MPS said. Her name has not been released pending arraignment.

MSP would not specify what the nature of the contraband was.

A joint investigation was started in early 2024 between the Michigan Department of Corrections and MSP after multiple people tried to sneak contraband into the prison. Several suspects have since been identified, MSP said.
