BRONSON, Mich. (WOOD) — School was dismissed for students in Bronson Tuesday after word of a break-in, police say.

Tuesday morning, the Bronson Police Department was provided information about a break-in that happened at Bronson Jr./Sr. High School at Grant Street and Wayne Street. Officers did not say exactly when the break-in happened. Police met with school administration, did preliminary investigation and reviewed surveillance footage.

Police and school administration decided to “err on the side of caution and dismiss school for the day,” according to a social media post from the police department.

“Law Enforcement and School Officials want to make it clear there was no verbal or written threat to the safety of our students and staff, this was a burglary,” wrote the department.

Police are investigating to identify and charge the suspects. Anyone with information should contact the Bronson Police Department at 517.369.9083.

“Crimes like these disrupt the learning process of our school children. It also disrupts lives of the whole family when school must dismiss early without warning. We take incidents to our schools very seriously and will continue to investigate this matter,” the police department wrote.
