GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — The body of a missing Delton man has been found, ending the dayslong search for him, according to police.
Michael Hodge’s body was found during an “extensive K-9 search,” Michigan State Police wrote in a social media post Thursday night.
Hodge, 76, had been missing since Friday and his family was concerned about his well-being, troopers said. Members of the community formed a search party that was on the lookout Tuesday in Barry Township to try to find Hodge.
He had been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease and had a caretaker who had seen him on Friday before he went missing. The caretaker did not notice any abnormalities in his behavior, according to Amy Planck, the owner of the company the caretaker was employed with.

Planck, who organized the Tuesday search, described Hodge as a “very very loving person, very sweet, very fun.”
It’s not clear what happened to Hodge or how he died.
“The MSP would like to extend our heartfelt condolences to Mr. Hodge’s family, friends, and all those who knew him. This is truly the most unfortunate outcome for us all. We would also like to express our sincere gratitude for the hundreds of volunteers, partners, and other law enforcement resources from near and far that assisted in searching for Mr. Hodge over the past several days,” wrote MSP in the social media post.
