HOPE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Family members have named the person who was killed Monday night in a shooting that involved Barry County deputies.

He was identified as Jeremiah Johnson. Family told News 8 that Johnson was an Army veteran who suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder.

Deputies responded Monday to a domestic situation involving a gun on Kingsbury Road near M-43 Highway in Hope Township, according to the Barry County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies said one person was shot and killed. They did not release any names Monday, nor did they explain what led up to the shooting.

State police are investigating. The deputies involved have been placed on administrative leave, which is standard procedure.
