GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — While voting for ArtPrize comes to an end, it’s more than just about winning for one Grand Rapids artist.
He hopes his paintings inspire others and bring healing. It’s called “Trauma Project.” Sixteen paintings and more than 20 artists from Grand Rapids are involved in the collection.
Artist Ray Foy said this is a project they’ve been working on for two years. He says each painting takes you on a journey through trauma — from something dark into something beautiful.
“One thing a lot of us look at stuff at face value, look within yourself, address those issues, or look within yourself and see what others are going through and see how you can help them. This is about unification, this is about talking, about having a voice,” said Foy.

Voting is now over for ArtPrize, but if you’d like to see how Ray or your favorite artist did this year, the competition’s closing ceremony will be held Friday.
