WAYLAND, Mich. (WOOD) — Amid a planned power outage, the Wayland Fire Department will open to the public as a warming shelter, it said.

Consumers Energy has planned the outage to start at 11 p.m. Saturday through 6 a.m. Sunday. Anyone affected by the outage was mailed a postcard earlier in the week, the Wayland Fire Department said in a social media post.

“Due to the forecasted temperatures on Saturday night, the Wayland Fire Department will be open during this time if anyone in the community needs a warming shelter,” it wrote.

The fire department is located in downtown Wayland on Superior Street and Church Street.
