ALLENDALE CHARTER TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — For the fourth consecutive year, Ferris State and Grand Valley State have finished atop the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference standings and are primed for a deep postseason run.

Both the Lakers and the Bulldogs secured wins over the weekend to wrap up the regular season and locked up their places in the NCAA Division II playoff field.

GVSU (10-1, 6-1 GLIAC) rolled to a comfortable 34-21 road win over Roosevelt on Saturday. Ferris State (10-1, 7-0 GLIAC) used a big second half to pull away from Davenport for a 24-9 win.

The Bulldogs’ 34-7 win over the Lakers on Oct. 26 was all the difference in the standings and the playoff bracket.

Ferris State earned one of the four No. 1 seeds in the 28-team playoff field, meaning they get a week off before hosting the winner of Central Oklahoma and Ouachita Baptist on Nov. 30.

GVSU is the second seed in that same super regional and will face the University of Indianapolis on Saturday at Lubbers Stadium. The Greyhounds went 10-1 on the season and won the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Kickoff for Saturday’s game is set for 1 p.m.

If GVSU wins, the Lakers will face the winner of Pittsburg State and Harding. If they manage to make it to the quarterfinals, the Lakers could have a shot at a rematch with the Bulldogs and redemption for their loss in the annual Anchor-Bone Classic.

For Ferris State, it is their 15th playoff appearance and 10th in a row, the longest active streak in Division II. GVSU has qualified for the Division II playoffs 24 times.
