Dec. 8, 1982: Dennis Alt and Chris Schoenborn are reported missing.

Dec. 9, 1982: The bodies of Dennis Alt and Chris Schoenborn are discovered near the Plainfield Township water tank.

May 14, 1983: Randy Kraft is pulled over on a California highway with his last victim in the front seat. He is arrested.

June 24, 1983: Randy Kraft is indicted in Kent County for the murders of Dennis Alt and Chris Schoenborn.

May 13, 1989: Randy Kraft is convicted of 16 murders in California. He is suspected of killing as many as 67 people in at least three states, including Alt and Schoenborn in Michigan.

June 12, 1989: Dennis Alt and Chris Schoenborn's mothers travel to California to testify in at Randy Kraft's death penalty hearing.

Aug. 28, 1989: With a death sentence penalty looming in California, the Kent County charges against Randy Kraft for the murders of Dennis Alt and Chris Schoenborn are dismissed.

Nov. 29, 1989: Randy Kraft is sentenced to death.

May 25, 2001: Randy Kraft launches an appeal at the federal level. That appeal is still pending.
