West Michigan businesses and restaurants fundraise for Florida hurricane victims

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) – West Michigan businesses and restaurants are banding together to fundraise for relief efforts for hurricane victims in Florida.

Hurricane Milton, making landfall as a Category 3 storm, tore through the state Wednesday night.

Thousands of Floridians were already working to recover from Hurricane Helene, which made landfall on September 26 as a Category 4 storm. More than 200 people were killed in the storm and hundreds were left unaccounted for.

To help support a great need, 14 Grand Rapids area restaurants and six restaurants in Northern Michigan will join efforts by donating 100% of the profits raised on Thursday, Oct. 10.

Proceeds will benefit the North Carolina Hospitality Workers Relief Fund and the nonprofit Mercy Chefs.
