GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) – It’s the season of giving and there are many ways to get involved that could help make someone’s year a lot more bright.

Ada Chili Beer Festival

The weather outside is cold and why not warm up with a few cups of chili?

You’ll be able to experience a variety of recipes at the Ada Chili Beer Festival, sponsored by the Ronald McDonald House.

The event is happening in downtown Ada on December 7 from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m.

Tickets are not required to attend the event, but can be purchased for chili and drink samples.

Proceeds from ticket sales will help support the families of children who are hospitalized.

If you’d like to purchase tickets ahead of time, visit the event website.

FireKeepers Casino Hotel Toy Drive Collection

FireKeepers Casino Hotel is giving away rewards to guests who donate new toys during its annual toy drive.

Guests who donate a new and unwrapped toy to the Red Hot Rewards Club from December 1 through 10 will earn $10 in Red Hot Rewards.

FireKeepers is working to beat last year’s record of more than two thousand toys donated to local children in need this holiday season.

Mel Trotter Ministries – Code Blue Drive

Now through the end of the year, Mel Trotter Ministries will collect winter coats and other warm clothing items for those who are experiencing homelessness.

The mission of the Code Blue Drive is making sure anyone who needs a warm coat will have one in their size.

The drive collects not only coats in various sizes, but also jeans, sweatpants and sweatshirts.

Donated items are asked to be gently used or new.

This year, the goal is to serve 25,000 children across West Michigan. Toys and gifts are needed for children ages zero through 17.

There’s still time to request hosting a tree, as well as registering for assistance.
