GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) – The 2024 Consumers Energy SmartArt competition was narrowed down to 10 finalists, but only one artist took home the top prize.

Nusra Juma, a junior at Ottawa Hills High School, was awarded first place. Juma won a $2,000 scholarship and an Apple laptop courtesy of Consumers Energy.

Each of the top 10 finalists received monetary or technology prizes including Apple laptops, iPads and/or Meijer gift cards.

Consumers Energy has partnered with ArtPrize for more than 10 years – challenging high school students within Grand Rapids Public Schools to create a piece focusing on clean energy and sustainability.

You can find the artwork of the top 10 finalists on the Consumers Energy building on the corner of Fulton Street and Market Avenue during ArtPrize.
