COOPERSVILLE, Mich. (WOOD) — Suzanna VanDop is a busy senior at Coopersville High School. She volunteers, serves as president of the National Honor Society and takes six AP classes.

“It’s very hard. But I enjoy all of them, so it’s worth it,” VanDop said. “I’m really proud of being president of our National Honor Society and running all the blood drives and the volunteer activities that we get to do together.”

She says robotics is her favorite thing to do because it’s challenging but fun.

“Struggling over something together when something doesn’t work and then we have to figure out why and how we’re going to fix it,” VanDop said.

Her friends admire her drive.

“I don’t think she realizes how many people look up to her and realize her hard work. It’s just amazing what she does. She’s such an amazing girl,” said Jordan Finkler.

“She has shown everybody in the school just how you can balance school, work, family, friends…everything. And she balances it so well that she just excels at everything,” added Maddie Keefe.

They also think she’s the perfect student of the week.

“It’s special to see somebody that usually wouldn’t get the recognition they deserve,” Keefe said. “I think it’s going to be very special to see how she reacts to that.”

“She’s such a sweet girl,” Finkler said. “She’ll never be rude to you. She will help you out anytime. She’s so respectful.”

“I love school, and I love being around my friends and I really like the people here,” VanDop said.
