GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — The Christmas holiday is nearly three months away but for Kent County’s Salvation Army, the season of giving is beginning.

The Salvation Army will start its Angel Tree program in Kent County on Monday. People have until Dec. 2 to apply for Christmas assistance or to sign up to host an Angel Tree site.

The Salvation Army said it “distributed more than 17,000 toys and gift cards to more than 4,000 children last year” and expects to help more families this year.
