Scott Larson

Scott Larson joined Storm Team 8 in January 2024 and is thrilled to forecast the weather for West Michigan!

Growing up in Valparaiso, Indiana, Scott became passionate about the weather at a young age and graduated from Valparaiso University with a Bachelor of Science in meteorology, plus a mathematics minor. While at VU, Scott participated in broadcasting internships with WFLA in Tampa, Florida, and WGN in Chicago.

Scott forecast the weather at the ABC affiliate in Sioux City, Iowa, for a dozen years, including 5 years in the role of chief meteorologist. While in Siouxland, Scott covered numerous blizzards, derechos and severe weather events with all of the extremes that impact northwest Iowa, northeast Nebraska and southeast South Dakota. Scott was an integral part of an Emmy-winning newscast discussing historic flooding that occurred with a bomb cyclone in March 2019. He holds the American Meteorological Society Seal of Approval #865.

Scott met his wife Claire in Sioux City and has two children, a daughter named Pippa and a son named Duncan. In his free time, Scott enjoys spending time with his family, playing video games, and taking walks with his goldendoodle Winston.
