Josh Sanchez joined the News 8 team in August 2024.
A proud West Michigan native, he was raised in Holland and attended West Ottawa High School. He went on to graduate in 2019 from Western Michigan University, where he majored in film and minored in history and journalism.
His professional broadcast career started in Lansing in the summer of 2021, reporting for WOOD TV8’s sister station WLNS. During his three years in Mid-Michigan, he covered a mix of complex topics from state politics to military and veterans affairs. He says the most impactful milestones were helping with the creation of the 6 News Investigates team and assisting his team during major breaking news events. Josh helped the team achieve several newscasts and breaking news awards during his time with 6 News.
Listening and taking care of the community are what drives Josh and his reporting. He is happy to be back in the Kalamazoo area as the bureau reporter.
Josh likes to stay active outside of the newsroom with hikes and weightlifting. He enjoys taking it slow, too, by playing video games and reviewing ice cream flavors.
