Elisia Alonso joined the WOOD TV8 team in August 2016 as an assignment editor and news desk reporter. From there she moved south to report in both South Carolina and Florida, where she covered news and severe weather stories.
Elisia moved back to West Michigan with her family in June 2023 and joined the eightWest lifestyle team in October as the show’s first-ever reporter. Elisia also hosts Live Local. Give Local. on eightWest and ABC 4. She’s grateful for the opportunity to share community stories in the area she grew up in and loves.
Elisia graduated from Western Michigan University with a bachelor’s degree in journalism and a minor in gender and women’s studies. The city of Kalamazoo holds a special place in her heart.
Elisia is a West Michigan native. She grew up in Kentwood and attended Kentwood Public Schools. Elisia knew she wanted to pursue a career in broadcasting at the age of 12. Reporting at WOOD TV8 is a lifelong dream realized for her.
When she’s not working, Elisia enjoys spending time with her growing family. Her favorite activities include visiting the lakeshore in Holland, as well as dining in locally operated restaurants.
