Duncan MacLean joined WOOD as a reporter in August 2024 to continue a career in service-based journalism.
He was born in Pontiac and grew up in West Michigan, spending some childhood years in Grandville and graduating from East Grand Rapids High School.
A communication degree from Hope College began his journalism journey, which brought him to Grand Haven to work as sports reporter and eventually sports editor of the Grand Haven Tribune.
Duncan’s broadcast career began in western Massachusetts as a producer for WWLP in 2019. Three years behind the scenes eventually gave way to a reporting opportunity there, which saw him work two years as the station’s weekday morning reporter.
Duncan and his wife welcomed their first child in December 2023, prompting a move back home to West Michigan to be near both sides of his growing family.
Here at home, his feverish fandom for the Detroit Lions, Pistons, Red Wings, Tigers and the University of Michigan is better tolerated. In his spare time, Duncan enjoys the outdoors and good company.
