Amber Krycka

Amber Krycka joined News 8 as a main evening anchor in March 2024.

Television news moved Amber across the country and now home; there is nothing quite like Michigan. She is so grateful to be at WOOD TV8 and tell the stories of her home state.

From Nebraska, to Kentucky, to Florida to Illinois and now Michigan, she has covered hurricanes, tropical storms, snowstorms, tornadoes, wildfires and many national breaking news stories.

Everywhere she has been, she worked hard on local issues and needs. In Illinois during the COVID-19 pandemic, she started a letter campaign to lift the spirits of people in nursing homes. It resulted in an annual campaign lasting four years, with thousands of letters collected from viewers each year. The best part came when she delivered the letters and cards herself.

She looks forward to making a commitment and a mark here in Western Michigan.

When not working, she enjoys hiking with her husband, playing the piano, reading and visiting nursing homes.
