Monday on WOOD TV8: Weathering West Michigan

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Rushing winds, spinning tornadoes and, of course, mountains of snow: West Michigan and the people who live here have been changed by the severe weather we’ve experienced.

Monday at 7 p.m. on WOOD TV8 and streaming on woodtv.com, Storm Team 8 hosts a special report looking back at the storms that shaped us in Weathering West Michigan.

Meteorologists Sara Flynn and Blake Harms are breaking down the blizzard of 1978, the Kalamazoo tornado of 1980 and the derecho of 1998, looking at the storms’ effects through the eyes of the people who lived them.

Storm Team 8 will also explain how forecasting technology has changed over the last 50 years, giving meteorologists more tools to warn you sooner when a dangerous storm threatens.
