GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (ABC 4)- Downtown Grand Rapids is the place to be this weekend! Aside from exploring the wonders of ArtPrize, Confluence, an annual festival “celebrating innovation across art, music, science and technology,” will occur on Friday, Sept. 20, through Sunday, Sept. 21, at Rosa Parks Circle.
The free community event offers many engaging activities, events and educational activations for guests of all ages.

Highlights of the Confluence Fest include, but aren’t limited to:
- Kick-off Party: Visit Rosa Parks Circle this Friday at 6 p.m. for Confluence’s kick-off! The all-ages party will feature food, music, live performances, specialty cocktails and hands-on experiences.
- A Robotics Expo & Parade: Top middle and high school robotics teams from Grand Rapids, Kentwood, Allendale, Berrien Springs and more will showcase their engineering, coding and computer science skills.
- Future Innovators Zone: Features STEAM activities for kids of all ages.
In addition to these activities, attendees can also enjoy West Michigan’s largest gaming event, an Esports Expo on the main stage this Saturday.

During the Expo, top collegiate Esports teams, including Ferris State University and various high school teams will compete.
Winners of each division receive prizes, medals, and a custom trophy designed by Kendall College of Art and Design.
“Ferris’ involvement in the Confluence Festival highlights how we want to get students up in front of innovative opportunities,” said David Durkee, director, Grand Rapids operations, Ferris State University.
