GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (ABC 4) – Fall is finally upon us, and many of us are looking for outdoor activities to enjoy this season. It’s also great to just get outside, enjoy some nature and get some amazing donuts, pumpkins and cider!
We’ve come up with a list of West Michigan cider mills, apple orchards and pumpkin patches for you and your family or friends to enjoy.
Jollay Orchards
1850 Friday Rd. – Coloma
Jollay Orchards is open Friday-Sunday through Oct. 31 and offers pumpkins, apples and hayrides! If you’re feeling brave, they also have a haunted house on site. They also have a corn maze, a fishing pond, an animal farm, a playground and a western town to explore.
Fruit Ridge Hayrides
11966 Fruit Ridge NW – Kent County
Looking for a more traditional pumpkin patch? Fruit Ridge Hayrides offers pumpkin picking, horse-drawn hayrides, a giant corn maze, fresh cider, fall decorations and more through Oct. 27. Their fall hours are Fridays from 5 p.m.- 9 p.m. (during October only), Saturdays from 10 a.m.- 9 p.m. and Sundays from 10 a.m.- 5 p.m.! They are open Monday-Thursday for groups by reservation only.
Post Family Farm
5081 Bauer Rd. – Hudsonville
Post Family Farm offers 80 acres of life’s simple pleasures! Discover a U-pick pumpkin patch, donuts, bonfires, hayrides, friendly farm animals, a nature trail and more. Plus, they also host weddings on their beautiful land!
Hill Bros. Orchards and Cider Mill
6159 Peach Ridge Ave NW – Grand Rapids
This cider mill has some history behind it. It has remained family-owned and operated since 1843! Their award-winning apple cider is made right there on the farm. Make sure you stop by and try it out! They don’t have U-pick available on-site, but you can pick from their large bins of 15+ varieties of apples and purchase by the 1/2-peck, peck, 1/2 bushel, bushels, or by the bin.
Morse Brothers Farm
5032 Peach Ridge Ave NW – Grand Rapids
Not too far down the road is Morse Brothers Farm! Beginning in October, visitors can buy an already-picked pumpkin or gourd or pick a pumpkin themselves! Stay tuned for opening date updates on their Facebook profile.
Schwallier’s Country Basket
1185 9 Mile Road NW – Sparta
Enjoy apples, donuts, pies, honey and cider in their farm market. Plus, enjoy outdoor activities every day of the week! Schwallier’s offers a giant corn maze, a play area for kids, a petting farm, a cow train and wagon rides!
